Cladding Cleaning Case Study University of South Wale
Cladding Cleaning Treforest
The job
In 2016 the cladding surrounding some of the University’s main buildings had become infected with a diverse film consisting of black mould, namely Aspergillus Niger and Geocapsa Magma, moss, single cell green algae, and Trentophilia - a more complex algae that results in red staining. Softwashing UK were contracted to remove this growth and restore the cladding to optimal condition.
What we did?
Softwashing UK worked diligently on site to ensure all cladding was cleaned quickly, with excellent results. All tricky access issues were resolved with MEWPs operated by IPAF qualified drivers. This was also an abseil cleaning project - highly trained IRATA qualified operatives cleaned and restored many elevations- that even the MEWPs could not reach. This requires sophisticated and technical project management.
Results
The university were delighted with the results. Softwashing UK have an ongoing relationship with the institution, to clean, restore, and maintain the premises. In 2021 we returned to clean other areas, including the Student Union building and the Business School. As of 2022 further work is due to take place.
