Softwashing at Height

One of the best things about Softwashing is that it can often be done from the safety of the ground. Sometimes this is just not possible however. Some buildings or elevations are just too tall. Softwashing UK have experience in cleaning and restoring buildings of all sizes. We have used all kinds of access equipment to safely and efficiently clean and restore a building.

The principal things to consider when working at height are the operational and capital costs. and how these trade off against one another. A classic case of OPEX vs CAPEX.

For example, it takes time and cost to erect a scaffold, but once that scaffold is up it is quick and easy to work off it.

A MEWP (Moving Elevating Work Platform) is quickly  raised, but the costs of hiring and operating are high.

Scaffold Towers are a nice compromise between the two.

Therefore - on projects of long duration, or when scaffold is already in place, we will recommend working off scaffolding. For most projects however we will suggest using a MEWP or scaffold tower - whichever is necessary.

Sometimes neither of these options works - a building is just too tall or its access is just too complicated, and instead an abseil team are needed. We will always explain all our access methods in full before any project - or talk you through the options (when options are possible).

Of course - sometimes the easiest thing to do is just work off a ladder - but only when safe to do so! We do not use access equipment lightly, and try to keep things as simple as possible.

Whether we are using a cherry picker, spider, or other kind of MEWP we always work under IPAF regulations.

Here are some of the MEWPs we have used on a projects

Cherry Pickers - a good general option for quick access at height.

Spiders - great for when working on delicate ground or ground with a low load bearing capacity.

Vehicle mounted MEWPs with or without boom - when access allows and height is the order of the day.

Whenever scaffold is in play we adhere to PASMA.

When rope access is necessary we comply to IRATA.

Whatever method is best you can be assured that Softwashing UK are safe, and totally legally compliant. Contact us today for a no obligation quote.
