Softwashing UK were contracted to clean the apartment blocks at Prospect Place. This is a large multi storey complex. It is run by one of the largest property companies in the UK. As a very high value cleaning contract this project was put out to competitive tender to this company’s suppliers, including Softwashing UK. All companies on the preferred supplier list had already been vetted to ensure they meet stringent health and safety, quality, and financial standards. Softwashing UK were able to secure this project by proving that they could deliver the safest, most risk averse, clean – at a very competitive rate.
The project itself was complex. The acrylic render apartments at Prospect Place are large, so working at height provided access challenges. The front of these buildings face one of the most protected fresh water sources in Europe, so there were environmental standards to adhere to. With the use of both a spider MEWP and a large mobile Scissor Lift operated by an IPAF qualified staff, Softwashing UK were able to surmount the access challenges. To avoid chemical drift potentially damaging the water source, chemical applications were made using rollers where necessary to mitigate the risk. This is a labour-intensive process, but the safest method. In addition, Prospect Place is also a very busy domestic area, health and safety, with strict project management, were paramount. It was also vital to communicate with the 1000s of residents that live in Prospect Place – both before, after, and during the project. Softwashing UK managed all communications to ensure residents were informed, prepared, and empowered throughout the process.
The results at Prospect Place were excellent – the project was delivered on time and budget – and residents and our client are delighted! By avoiding the need to repaint the render very significant cost savings were made.
