If we are being completely honest, no one looks forward to cleaning the patio. We do not wake up on the weekends, after a tough week in the office, and immediately look for a wire brush.
We all love relaxing with friends over a BBQ, but patio cleaning is no one’s favourite task. The frequency with which this task needs to be completed can really grind too.
Slippery and unsightly weeds, mosses, lichen, and fungi can persist and return just days after cleaning, or even after a professional high pressure wash (which incidentally may damage the stones over time), because the root systems of the infectants are deep and tenacious.
Softwashing is designed to remove these growths and leave a patio spic and span, perfect for your BBQ, party, or relaxing in the sunshine! We are proud of our pation cleaning services.
Our softwashing patio service is far more effective than DIY. The cleansing system we use is designed to clean the surface, and penetrate into the porous sub-surface, sanitising in the cracks and gaps between the slabs. We can also replace sand between slabs with sterile kiln dried sand when this has been blown away or removed by high pressure washing, which further inhibits the regrowth of moss and weeds. High pressure washing often removes sand between slabs, leaving to loose blocks, and increasing the chance of weed growth.
It is important to keep the regrowth of the infectants down to an absolute minimum. To do this we will investigate and analyse the organic, atmospheric growths. We will then cordon and protect any green or vegetative borders that may be impacted by our initial detergent treatments. We will remove obvious growth and stains, and use our softwash treatment to prevent their recurrence, with no need of re-sanding.. Our satisfaction is in seeing prim again patio slabs, leaving you free to enjoy the summer on your patio!

Patios are a popular feature in UK homes, offering outdoor space for relaxation and entertaining. However, over time, patios can become discoloured and slippery due to algae, moss, lichen, and general grime. That’s where Softwashing UK comes in.
We offer professional patio cleaning using specialist soft washing technology — a safer, longer-lasting alternative to pressure washing.
Unlike pressure washing, which can damage pointing or loosen slabs, our low-pressure soft wash system uses biodegradable cleaning solutions that penetrate deep into porous surfaces. This method safely kills algae, moss, and organic growth at the root — without dislodging or eroding your patio.
Our soft washing doesn’t just make your patio look clean — it stops the problem at its source. By removing spores and biofilm, we help prevent the quick return of moss and algae, so your patio stays cleaner for longer.
We don’t just clean — we treat. Our biocidal softwash solution eliminates moss, algae, and lichen from your patio surface and joints, offering long-term protection against slippery, unsightly growth.
High-pressure methods can damage mortar and surface finishes. Our soft wash approach is gentle on stone, brick, and concrete but powerful against years of grime, restoring your patio’s appearance without the risks.
With Softwashing UK, your patio is in expert hands. Our team is fully trained, insured, and experienced in patio care — from chemical handling to appropriate softwashing methods.
Our cleaning solutions are pH neutral, biodegradable, and environmentally safe. They’re safe for pets, children, and surrounding plants when applied correctly, giving you a clean outdoor space with complete peace of mind.
