The Pheasant Hotel in Holt, Norfolk, is a four star luxury hotel with exceptionally high standards. It is the ideal place for a weekend break away with your partner, a family holiday, or indeed a celebration. The rooms are very comfy with some lovely touches. With standards this high it is vital to ensure the building is maintained well, so the owners were alarmed to see organic growth beginning to take a hold on substrate, as it can be very difficult indeed to remove. K-Rend is a fabulous substrate with which to finish a building’s exterior, as it is durable, through-coloured, and holds its colour for decades on end. It can become infected with organic growth however, as can any material. In this instance capstones over the K-Rend had substantial water run-off, and this was contributing to the build-up of growth. Organic growth feeds off moisture and minerals in the air.

With the hotel being a busy and popular destination a great degree of planning and sensitivity was required to deliver this project. It was vitally important not to disturb the guests when they were relaxing or sleeping at the hotel. As such we only worked in sociable hours, with unobtrusive equipment. We also selected a quiet time of the year, and the week, to complete the project, and liaised directly with the hotel proprietor to arrange this. We also provided materials so that guests would be aware that work was taking place so our presence did not interfere with their stay.
