Softwashing UK cleaned these K-Rend Apartment blocks in Torquay. Unfortunately the blocks had become contaminated with organic growth. Contamination with organic growth is very common in Torquay, with its coastal microclimate providing a good environment for organic growth to flourish, as it feeds off moisture and minerals in the air. The growth consisted of a black mould known as Aspergillus Niger, and red and green algae. This can be very problematic to remove, and the property managers responsible for the block had been unable to source a company able to do the job adequately. Softwashing UK were able to clean the K-Rend, and restore this substrate to optimum condition. The building was first cleaned using the Historic England recommended Doff Steam system, it was then treated with biocide to kill the growth at the root system. These two processes are very complimentary and work in tandem to deliver exceptional results. Much of the work was completed form the safety of the ground, using water fed poles that extend. Where required on some elevations, where height or other access issues prevailed, we used moving elevating work platforms, and scaffold tower, with fully trained and accredited staff of course. In just a few short days the projects was complete, and we caused no interference to the residents and their visitors at the properties.
We were able to clean the K-Rend and remove the organic growth without a hitch. The project was completed on time and budget, and both the residents and the property managers were exceptionally pleased with the results.
