Render Cleaning for Housing Associations
Ker Street Development
The Job
Ker Street Development- at the time this was the UK’s biggest ever Render Cleaning project.
Many companies like to say “No job is too big”, but Softwashing UK can prove it.
In 2017 Softwashing UK were contracted by Housing Association Devon and Cornwall Housing (then called DCH) to clean hundreds of public sector houses rented from the Association by Residents in Plymouth, in the Ker Street area.
This was a huge project. Softwashing UK needed to tender against numerous national contractors to secure the business. This was attained due to Softwashing UK’s characteristic innovation - as this was not only the largest render cleaning project ever undertaken in the UK- but also the first to use Safewash - a hazard free and natural render cleaning solution that poses no risks to human, animal, or environmental health.
What We Did
The project was completed in three stages:
Doff Steam Cleaning - we used the system recommended by Historic England to remove the heavy build-up of organic growth-using low pressure and highly controlled high temperature steam.
Safewash application. We applied this organic solution to kill the single cell green algae, and red staining Aspergillus Niger at root.
Tightly controlled application of Lightning Cleanse - a fully label compliant solution to remove black staining from buildings immediately.
This project was delivered under CDM regulations.
The Results
This project was approximately to the value of £250K and was delivered on time and budget, with an impeccable health and safety record. No wonder DCH were absolutely delighted.
