These apartments in Exmouth Devon had become contaminated with organic growth that required specialist treatment to remove, in need of render cleaning. Once established on render organic growth cannot be removed by pressure washing as this poses significant risk of damaging the substrate and allowing damp to penetrate. This is where Softwashing UK come in. We were tasked with killing the growth removing any lingering stains, and restoring the render to an ‘as new’ condition. The organic growth was reasonably varied, with a several different algae and moulds that had become established. This was detrimental to the overall appearance of the building, effecting the colour in particular.
Softwashing UK were able to clean the render on these Exmouth apartments. As the properties were not of significant height we were able to clean the render from the safety of the ground. This is important in two different respects. Firstly it avoids unnecessary risks associated with working at height. Secondly it reduces costs, as there is no need to erect scaffold (as would happen if the property were being painted), or to hire access equipment like MEWPs (aka Cherry Pickers). Using water fed poles to gently softwash we were were able to clean the render, restoring it to optimum condition. Take a look at the photos below.
Needless to say our client was totally delighted with the outcomes of these treatments. The render looked as good as new, and the work had been completed on time and budget, with no interference in the daily lives of the residents. In fact the residents had been informed in advance of what was expected of them- when the work to take place, when to shut windows during spraying, and the project was therefore completed without any hitch.
