Softwashing is one of the gentlest but most thorough techniques for cleaning concrete. It can be used on concrete facades, slabs, driveways, and more.
There are a few things to bear in mind when cleaning concrete. These surfaces can often tend to be heavily soiled and in need of deep restoration, but usually a light softwash treatment to remove bacteria and fungi will prove equally effective, and far more cost efficient, than a high pressure wash. Concrete is a diverse and commonly deployed building material, but there can be escalating costs and damage if it is cleaned incorrectly. High pressure washing can even damage concrete, and can certainly wreck gardens and other delicate materials housed nearby.
We perform a full risk assessment to mitigate against unnecessary costs and damage. Flat, uncoated concrete surfaces will often require a simple light treatment to remove mildew or similar. But coated surfaces may first need additional preparatory work to ensure effective cleaning is not hindered by chemical resistant coatings.
We will also pay due care and attention to the internal and external borders, as often windows, trim, landscaping, or furniture may require additional protection before cleaning.
The exact nature of the concrete surface will also be considered. Untreated, epoxy, cool deck, riverrock, etc, all require a slightly different approach with varying milligram sensitivity to our surfactants and cleansing detergents, and the surface may or may not require prior rinsing.
As you can see, when it comes to concrete we've got it covered.
All our treatments include, as required:
Surface cleanse and preparation, usually requiring broom or blower.
Manual wash with brush to remove any common and easily removable low density deficiencies, such as the occasional oil stain.
Removal of chewing gum.
Softwash solution treatment to remove any rust marks.
Concrete exposed to higher temperatures, as frequently found in industrial plants, may require cooling prior to chemical application.
Borders and landscape will be suitably protected prior to the softwash, and we’ll clean away from the border to keep them doubly safe during the clean.
A super-light application of antibacterial and fungicidal chemical blends are then softwashed over the now primed concrete surface.
We’ll work with the minimum pressures required to deliver outstanding concrete cleaning results. To discuss concrete cleaning contact Softwashing UK today.
